RUST1:1 IRL propRust Mendo Kitsune Skin Facemask
About this piece
The Rust Mendo facemask in real life — a 1:1 lifesize hand-painted replica of the Metal Facemask in the Mendo streamer-community skin, which turns it into a kitsune mask. A silver-white fox face with red markings and black brows, recreated in PLA and hand-airbrushed in our Bavarian workshop. Built for cosplay and display alike.
The Rust facemask as a kitsune mask, in the Mendo skin
The facemask is Rust's signature piece of head armour: in-game it's the Metal Facemask, the one that signals "fully geared" the moment it appears over a wall. Mendo is one of Rust's streamer-community facemask skins, tied to the Mendo stream and the broader Rust creator scene, and it reshapes the mask completely: instead of the usual facemask shape you get a kitsune, the Japanese fox mask, with a pointed ear at each top corner. The face is brushed silver-white and streaked like grain, with red outlines running around the two eye openings and along every edge, red flame-shaped flicks across the cheeks and forehead, and black markings sitting above the eyes like brows. The nose is a black triangle, and a red line curves out from under it into a smile. It covers the eyes, cheeks and nose and stops there, and the inside is painted red.
Built for cosplay and display
Each Mendo facemask is hand-finished in Bavaria: made from PLA, hand-airbrushed, sealed. Every mask has two pre-drilled holes, and you choose at checkout whether to add a strap: pick "none" for a pure display piece, which those two holes let you hang straight on a wall, or "add face velcro strap" to make it wearable. At 1:1 lifesize it works as a shelf centrepiece or the finishing piece of a Rust cosplay. Whether you write it "facemask" or "face mask", this is the Rust mask every survivor recognises. Official Rust merchandise, built to last on display for years.
What players ask about the Mendo facemask
What is the Mendo facemask in Rust? The Metal Facemask wearing the Mendo skin, a streamer-community facemask tied to the Mendo stream, which reshapes it into a kitsune mask: silver-white, red markings, two ears.
Is it a fox or a cat? Kitsune means fox in Japanese, and the kitsune mask is the fox mask you see at Japanese festivals, so strictly speaking it's a fox. Plenty of Rust players call it the cat facemask or the kitten mask anyway, and this is the one they mean.
Is it actually made of metal? In Rust it's called the Metal Facemask, so that's how most players search for it. Our replica is hand-airbrushed PLA rather than steel. That's on purpose: PLA is far lighter, which makes it comfortable to wear for cosplay and easy to mount for display, while still closely matching the shape and finish of the in-game mask.
Can you wear it? Yes, if you add the strap. Every mask has two pre-drilled holes; the velcro strap itself is the paid option. Choose "add face velcro strap" and the facemask becomes wearable for cosplay, or pick "none" if you want it purely for display. Either way it's the full 1:1 lifesize size.

Frequently asked
Is this real armour?
No. It's a display and cosplay replica, hand-airbrushed PLA rather than steel, with no protective function at all. Wear it for a costume, hang it on a wall, but don't expect it to protect you from anything.
How long does shipping take?
Once shipped, Germany 1–3 days, the rest of Europe 3–7 days, and 7–14 days everywhere else. Tracked by the regional carrier depending on destination country.
Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, we ship to 40+ countries from our workshop in Bavaria.
Can I return it if I change my mind?
14 days, no questions asked. Item must be returned in its original packaging. Customs on international returns are the buyer's responsibility.
How do I clean and care for it?
A microfiber cloth and a dry brush is all you need. Avoid solvents, alcohol-based cleaners and direct sunlight for long periods. Our matte sealer is robust but it's not invincible.
